We support groups building power across Illinois.
We believe organizing is not just effective but perhaps the only approach to creating structural change where those most impacted by complex social problems can come together to address those issues.
Illinois Community Power Fund invests in groups uniquely positioned to build statewide power through:
Building a base
Offering support to community members to develop their leadership abilities
Utilizing a democratic agenda-setting model
By investing in communities, our vision is that people across the state will be able to come together to advance a collective vision for a more just Illinois.
DIRECT GRANTMAKING
As of now, our grantmaking is by invite only.
Register for our newsletter to receive updates.
Our model is oriented towards supporting long term power, which means that:
We prioritize Illinois communities where traditional philanthropy is rare
We support groups beyond electoral cycles and campaigns
We center grassroots leadership that is accountable to BIPOC and low-income communities
We support multiple dimensions of justice and community self-determination rather than specific issues
CAPACITY BUILDING
We plan to provide resources for organizers to hone their craft and build community. This may include learning communities, coaching and training, health and wellness, and other activities.
Capacity-building activities will be co-created with organizing groups. Please contact us to learn more about accessing or supporting this work.
